Instructions for Client Site maintenance: By Sam Pfanstiel (c) 1999 FamilyConnect Outlook Express: This section will outline how to setup Outlook Express to send and receive mail from your domain hosted mail account. If you do not have Outlook Express, you can download it from Microsoft along with the latest Internet Explorer browser (at http://www.microsoft.com/ie/download) 1. Open Outlook Express 2. Select Tools 3. Select Accounts 4. Select the Mail tab. Here you can view your current mail accounts. If any are out-of-date, I suggest deleting them (otherwise Outlook Express will attempt to download mail from them every time it opens). 5. Click the Add button and select Mail 6. The first Dialog box asks you name. This name will be printed on every outgoing message you send from this account. You can type your full name followed by "- Your Company" or your department if you wish. Click Next 7. Now you must enter your e-mail address. This is for return mail when people click Reply to your message. This does NOT have to be your domain email account address, but this is recommended. Click Next. 8. Email Server Names must be entered exactly as below: Incoming mail server is a POP3 server. Incoming mail (POP3 or IMAP) server: mail.nationshost.com Outgoing mail (SMTP) server: mail.nationshost.com Click Next. 9. Log on using POP account name and password. These are case-sensitive user names and passwords that you will be assigned when we set up your email account. You do not have to enter a password if you prefer to enter it every time you download your mail (for security reasons). Click Next 10. Internet mail account name is the name you will see on your screen only. No one else will see this name, and it is simply to distinguish this account from your other accounts. Your email address is a good way to remember which account is which. 11. Choose Connection Type allows you to tell Outlook Express how to look for your mail. I recommend selecting "I will establish my Internet connection manually" and use an external dialer. However, if checking your email is all you do on the Internet (no browing, etc.) then you can choose "Connect using my phone line" and tell Outlook Express (on the next page) which dialer to use. LAN users should choose the second option. Click Next. 12. Click Finish when you are done. 13. Now that you account is set up, you can check the mail by clicking the "Send and Receive" button, or selecting Tools, Send and Receive (and your account name if you have more than one). 14. That's it!
